Fix a wrong account balance
Work through the four things that actually cause a balance to drift, in the order most likely to be the culprit.

An account balance in Fyncora is its starting balance plus every transaction you've recorded against it. So when it disagrees with your bank, something in that chain is off — and it's almost always one of four things.
1. Missing or duplicated transactions
The most common cause, and the easiest to check.
- Open Transactions and filter by the account.
- Sort by date and compare the last week against your bank.
- Add anything missing; delete anything listed twice.
Tip: if a whole range is duplicated, you probably imported an overlapping CSV before the account existed under its current name. Delete the import batch rather than the rows one by one — see Switch from another app.
2. A cross-currency transfer without the received amount
When you move money between accounts in different currencies, Fyncora needs both numbers: what left, and what arrived. If only one was recorded, one side of the transfer will be off by the exchange difference.
- Open Transactions and find the transfer.
- Select it, then choose Edit.
- Fill in the amount that actually landed in the destination account.
You'll see both account balances settle to the right figures.
3. The starting balance was wrong
If the difference is constant — every day off by the same amount — the account's opening balance is the problem, not the transactions.
- Open Accounts and select the account.
- Choose Edit.
- Correct the balance.
Warning: editing an account's balance doesn't create a transaction, so this changes your totals without leaving a trace in your history. Only use it to fix a genuine setup mistake — for real money that arrived or left, add a transaction instead.
4. An investment account holding stale prices
An investment account's balance is its cash plus the current value of its holdings. If prices haven't refreshed, the balance lags.
- Open Investments → Holdings.
- Select Refresh prices.
You'll see updated values, and the account balance and net worth move with them.
Note: an investment account you track as a single manual balance (no individual holdings) keeps the balance you set — it isn't derived, so it won't change until you change it.
Still off?
Note the exact difference and the account, then open a ticket. A specific number ("checking is €38.40 low since 14 March") is enough to find it quickly.
FAQ
Does a pending bank transaction explain it? Often, yes. Cards can authorise one amount and settle another days later; Fyncora shows what you recorded, not what your bank is still deciding.
Do credit cards work differently? A card balance is what you owe, shown as a liability. Paying it is a transfer from your bank account to the card, which reduces both.
