How account sharing levels work
Share an account fully, share only its amounts, or share nothing — you choose per account, and Fyncora never widens what you picked.

Joining a household doesn't hand over your finances. Sharing is decided per account, by the person who owns it, at one of three levels.
The three levels
Shared — your partner sees the account like you do: its balance and its individual transactions, with merchants and categories.
Amounts only — your partner sees that money moved and how much, but not what it was. Rows appear as Private transaction with the amount intact, so household totals stay correct without exposing where you shop. Useful for a personal account you still want counted in the joint picture.
Private — the account and everything in it stay yours. It contributes nothing to household views.
Tip: a birthday-present account is the classic case for Amounts only — the household's spending total stays honest, and the surprise survives.
Set the level for an account
- Open Accounts and select the account.
- Choose Edit.
- Set Sharing to Shared, Amounts only, or Private.
- Save.
You'll see a badge on the account row showing its level, so you can audit the whole list at a glance.
What the household view shows
The sidebar has a View switch with Personal and Household. Household adds everything your partner shares with you, following each account's level. Your own accounts always appear in full — the levels only ever restrict what others see.
Warning: changing an account from Private to Shared exposes its full transaction history, not just future rows. There's no "share from today onwards".
What the AI can see
The AI advisor and assistant answer from exactly what you can see in the app — shared accounts in full, Amounts only rows masked the same way they're masked on screen, private accounts absent entirely. Asking the advisor about the household can't reveal something the household view wouldn't.
This is deliberate: planning a house or a car without whole-household data is useless, so the advisor gets your full right-to-read — and nothing beyond it.
Kids are separate
Kids' accounts aren't part of this system. They get their own small space with pretend money jars, and they sign in with a PIN rather than an email. See Set up a kid's profile.
FAQ
Can my partner edit a shared account? They can see it and work with shared items, but only the owner can rename it, change its sharing level, or delete it.
What happens when someone leaves the household? Their shared data stops appearing in your household view. Nothing of yours travels with them.
Are goals and tasks shared the same way? Similar idea, chosen per item: a goal can be private or co-owned, and tasks on a shared goal can be assigned to one person or left open to either.
